When and where is SVCC 2017?
SVCC 2017 will take place on Friday, April 21, 2017, through Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California.

Where do I submit feedback and awesome content to you?
We appreciate all feedback, ideas, and suggestions, as well as images, videos, memes, interesting links or other content through the Support Form. We do our best to respond right away. However, please be patient as in some cases it may take up to 7 business days of processing time for your email submissions.

When will tickets for SVCC 2017 go on sale?
Tickets are on sale now! Please go to the Ticketing Page to purchase.

Will there be a Loyalty Program for past SVCC attendees?
No. For our second event, SVCC has chosen to forgo a loyalty program to give everyone who wants to attend the same opportunity to purchase tickets at the same prices.

What is a VIP Pass?
A VIP pass is the best way for a fan to experience the show! Maximize your time having fun with express lines for Panels, Photo Ops, and celebrity booths. VIPs get the most perks, like collectible merchandise and early entry to the Vendor Hall. See the VIP Ticket descriptions on the Ticketing Page for more details.

How do I get my VIP merchandise?
You will pick up your VIP Merchandise at VIP Registration Booth at the event. VIP posters will also be at the VIP Registration Booth for pick up. They will only be available for pick up at this location.

What is a 3-Day Pass?
The 3-Day Pass is a great way to experience all three days of the show! This pass includes admission to Silicon Valley Comic Con only. See the Ticketing Page for full details.

Can I buy a VIP Pass for just one day?
No. The VIP Passes are an exclusive experience for all three days of the event only. Single Day Passes are available if you wish to only attend for one day.

Can I still meet the celebrity if I don't get a VIP Pass?
Yes, all attendees can meet celebrity guests by purchasing a Photo Op or Autograph. Those with VIP Passes have express lines for Photo Ops, Autographs, and Panels.

Can I share my VIP Pass or 3-Day Pass with my friend/family?
No. VIP Passes and 3-Day passes can only be used by one person. It is a RFID wristband registered to one person's name and has to be worn all three days.

If I have a VIP Pass and my friend/family member has a 3-Day Pass, can they get early entry to the show floor with me?
No. All attendees over the age of 8 who wish to take advantage of VIP benefits, including early show floor entry, must have their own VIP or Gold Pass.

Can I buy tickets at the door?
You can buy them at the door, but we will most likely sell out. Tickets purchased at the event do not qualify for the pre-order discounts, perks, or incentives. All tickets purchased at the event will be an additional $5.

I am having a problem with my tickets! Help!
For registration and ticketing support, please submit a request through the Support Form.

refunds & exchanges

Can I gift my pass to somebody else?
Yes. You can physically give the printed QR code voucher to them to bring to the show and go into the GrowTix ticketing system to change the name on the ticket to their name. Once you know who you are giving your ticket to, you just need to change the ticket into their name. To do so, go to your confirmation page and click on the light blue button that says, "edit" next to the current name.

If I can't attend for some reason, can I get a refund for my ticket?
SVCC events have a no-refund policy. Please make other arrangements for your ticket such as gifting it away. SVCC also allows for the resale of Tickets, Photo Ops, Autographs, or other GrowTix products. However, SVCC will not be responsible for issues regarding the fraudulent sale of tickets.

Can I swap or upgrade my ticket?
Yes! To upgrade or swap your ticket, simply open the ticket voucher email that was sent to you from GrowTix and go into your order. Click the green button that says "Swap or Upgrade!" Select the Event Pass, Photo Op, or Autograph you would like to exchange or upgrade to and pay the difference if applicable. You can not swap with passes, autographs or photo ops that are less expensive than the one you initially purchased. This ability is especially useful in the unlikely event that a guest cancels. If you've purchased a photo op or autograph with that guest, you have the ability to exchange it for another celebrity guest.

Can I share my VIP Pass or 3-Day Pass with my friend/family?

I am having a problem with my tickets! Help!

Are you offering any discounts?
We offer a 15% discount to military, veterans, and senior citizens (62 and over). Proof of eligibility is required upon entry into the event.

Are Veterans eligible for the Military discount?
Yes, with proof of eligibility.

What is age range for the senior citizen discount?
The senior citizen discount is reserved for ticket buyers aged 62 years old and older.

If I am in the military or a senior citizen, can I use my discount to buy tickets for my family?
No. Each person needs to be a military member or senior citizen to qualify for this discount.

children & family

Is SVCC a family friendly event?
Yes! We encourage families to attend together. There is plenty for kids to see and do.

What are the Child Passes for?
Child passes are for children between the ages of 6-12. Children 13+ must have an adult pass, while children under the age of 6 are free and do not require a wristband.

I have a VIP ticket; can my young child get in early with me?
Yes. Your child under age 12 can go with you. If your child is older than 12, they must also have a VIP ticket.

How do I get a children's wristband for my child?
When you purchase a child's pass, it will be sent to you prior to the event, or you can pick it up at an SVCC registration booth. If your child is under the age of 6, they do not require a wristband.

Can I bring my stroller?
Yes. Strollers are allowed but please be courteous to fellow attendees.

Do you have a place I can nurse/pump?
Yes. There will be a private place with chairs, outlets, and a table.

Which celebrity guests will be at SVCC 2017?
Check out the Master Guest List for the most up to date information about the Celebrity guests that will be at SVCC 2017.

Will the guests from previous SVCC events be coming to SVCC 2017?
Not necessarily. While some celebrity guests attended last year's inaugural event, guests are only booked for one SVCC event at a time.

How do I meet the celebrity guest I am coming to see?
SVCC provides a wonderful opportunity to meet special guests. Each celebrity will have their own booth and times when everyone and anyone in attendance can meet them. However, celebrities require the purchase of an Autograph in order to meet them. Professional Photo Ops will also be available and provide the opportunity to meet a guest.

How can I suggest guests to come?
Please submit guest suggestions through the General Contact form.

Can I reach out to the celebrities to invite them myself?
It is great when a lot of fans encourage celebs to come to SVCC and does help them get interested. It is appropriate to request for the celebrity manager to contact SVCC directly to negotiate the terms of their participation.

I'm an agent or manager for an actor or comic artist who would like to attend your show as a guest. Whom do I contact?
Agents and celebrity managers are welcome to fill out our Guest Form, and will be contacted by SVCC thereafter to negotiate the terms of their participation.

Can I bring a gift to give to my favorite celebrity?
You can bring a gift if you’ve purchased an Autograph, and give it to them at the Autograph desk. Gifts in the Photo Op area are strictly prohibited. However, as a general rule of thumb, it is recommended that attendees do not present media guests with gifts as they often do not have space to fit the gifts into their luggage or they can't bring the gifts home with them. Gifts of food and/or beverage are strictly prohibited.

Are all guests guaranteed to show up?
All guests that we announce have committed to attend the show. As is standard practice at comic con events around the country, they have the right to cancel if there are circumstances that require it. If one of our announced guests cancels their appearance, we will do our best to replace them with a similar and comparable guest.

What if a guest cancels? What happens to my photo ops and autographs I already purchased?
It is rare, but it can happen. When a guest cancels their appearance and you already per-purchased their Photo Op or Autograph, you have the option to either swap that Photo Op or Autograph to another product of equal or greater value or request a refund.

To upgrade or swap your voucher, simply open the Photo Op or Autograph voucher email that was sent to you from GrowTix and go into your order. Click the green button that says "Swap or Upgrade!" Select the pass/Photo Op/Autograph you would like to exchange or upgrade to and pay the difference if applicable. We highly recommend printing and bringing with you to the event a printed copy of the QR code for each Photo Op and Autograph that you purchased for the fastest processing and best time optimization at the event. If you would simply like a refund, please email us at via our Support Form

photo ops

What are Photo Ops?
Photo Ops are opportunities to have a professional photo taken of you with your favorite celebrity guest by a professional photographer in the Celebrity Photo Ops Area. You will receive an 8×10 print of the photo and can purchase extra digital prints for $10 which will be emailed to you. Photo Ops need to be purchased separately from the admission ticket. A celebrity may do several Photo Op sessions throughout the day.

What happens if I’m late to or miss my photo op time?
It is imperative that you arrive to your assigned photo op session in the Photo Op area at the latest 15 minutes before your time. They will NOT hold the celebrity for the entire session if the line has emptied. If you are late and the line has emptied, we cannot guarantee you will get your Photo Op with that celebrity. If you do miss your time for that Photo Op, no refund will be given. So please manage your time wisely and check the Photo Op schedule for any updates. **

How much are the Photo Ops?
The prices for Photo Ops vary for each celebrity guest. Usually, they range from $40 – $75 each. Group Photo Ops of multiple celebrity guests from the same fandom may range up to $125 – $350 depending on the number of celebrity guests in them.

How many people are allowed to pose in the Photo Op?
You can have up to three other people (for a total of four) in the Photo Op with you unless specifically stated. Infants 1 year and younger do not count towards this total. If you are taking a group photo, you can wait in the VIP line if at least one member of the group has a VIP pass. If you want more than four people in your picture, you must purchase a second Photo Op.

I have a VIP Pass, but my friend that is in the photo with me does not. Can they stand in the VIP line with me?
Yes! Anyone in your party that will be in our photo op with you can stand in the VIP line if at least one of you has a VIP pass.

Can't I just take pictures with celebrities at their table?
Some celebrities allow you to take pictures with them at their table with your own camera. Not all guests or agents allow this and you will have to check at their table. Those that do will most likely charge a fee.

Can I take pictures of the celebrities as I walk past Celebrity Row or while I'm in line?
No. Per the request of our guests and their managers, we ask that you please refrain from taking photographs of celebrities as you walk past their table or are waiting in line. Thank you for your cooperation.

Can I buy Photo Ops online?
Yes. You can purchase Photo Op tickets for the guest you'd like to see via our Tickets Page. We highly recommend purchasing them ahead of time in order to avoid disappointment. It is hard to tell who will sell out and who will not.

Do I have to pre-purchase my ticket online?
No you do not. You can purchase photo ops at the convention but with cash only. The advantage of pre-purchasing online are: You will not miss out in the event that a celebrity guest sells out before the convention starts, you avoid potentially long line-ups by purchasing from the comfort of your own home, and you can pay with Visa or MasterCard if purchased online. Photo Ops purchased at the convention will be cash only.

What exactly do I get for my money?
You receive a high quality, glossy 8x10 photograph of yourself and the celebrity guest of your choice taken by one of our professional photographers.

Do I need to start lining up several hours prior to my Photo Op to ensure that I get my picture?
No. You will not be allowed to wait in the Photo Op area until it is your time to queue. Once the line moves, it moves very quickly.

How long do I have to wait to pick up my printed photo or my JPEG?
Photos are available for pick up within minutes of your photo being taken. You can also purchase digital copies of your photo, which will be emailed as soon as you pick up and scan out your photo and ticket at the Check-Out Station.

I bought the wrong Photo Op. How can I exchange/return it?
To upgrade or swap your Photo Op simply open the Photo Op or Autograph voucher email that was sent to you from GrowTix and go into your order. Click the green button that says "Swap or Upgrade!" Select the pass/Photo Op/Autograph you would like to exchange or upgrade to and pay the difference if applicable.

I have a conflict with my Photo Op time slots, what can I do?
There are 2-3 Photo Ops occurring at any given time. We do our best to schedule them, but sometimes there is overlap with the ones you have purchased. If this happens, you are able to swap out your Photo Op for another one. In order to exchange any Photo Op, you will need to come to the Epic Photo booth at the event and speak with them. All exchanges are subject to availability.

Can I link my photo ops to my RFID wristband?
Yes! We have implemented a band new feature. Once you have purchased your Photo Op, go back into your GrowTix confirmation link. Under your Photo Op product name is a KEY code. Click on this KEY code and it will take you to the RFID wristband page. Type in your RFID wristband number. If you have not activated it, it will prompt you to activate it now. Once activate, your RFID account will have an area to attach Photo Ops. The KEY code will automatically populate in this area, or you can type it in now.

You can add as many Photo Ops to your RFID wristband as you want. You can manage all your Photo Ops here and at any time.

I forgot to add a JPEG or Extra Print, can I do that now?
Once you have had your photo session and picked up your photo, you can then order a digital or extra print at our Reprint Station for $10 each.

Is the Photo Op a kind of Meet & Greet?
Photo op is just that - a photo opportunity with your favorite celebrity guest. It is unfortunately not a meet & greet and should not be viewed as such. Out of fairness to everyone, we discourage conversation with the guests aside from a quick hello. The autograph area is a better place to have a longer conversation with the guests.

Can I ask for an autograph while I'm getting my Photo Op?
No. Autographs are strictly prohibited in the Celebrity Photo Op area but can be purchased in the Celebrity Row area.

Can I use my personal camera to take photos in the Photo Op Area?
Personal cameras, cellphones, or other recording devices are strictly prohibited in the photo op area.

I don't like the way I look in the photo. Can I get it retaken?
Epic Photo Ops provides mirrors in the booth for a quick check but it is your sole responsibility to look how you want to look for your photo. The media guests cannot return to the photo op area for retakes, so before you arrive for your photo op, please make sure that you appear how you would like to present yourself for your photo. The photographer will try to catch things like closed eyes before you leave the photo op booth. Only in the event of closed eyes, do they automatically offer you a retake.

I didn't receive my JPEG!
Sometimes in the heat of the moment, after picking up your photo, you may have forgotten to scan out your photo and ticket at the Checkout Station, or there was an error in the scanning process which prevents our system from automatically sending you your JPEG.

Simply provide the following information to support@epicphotoops.com, and they'll ensure you receive your JPEG as soon as possible. Please allow up to 48 hours for an answer, not counting weekends.

How do I request a refund for a Photo Op?
Unless a guest has cancelled or we've had to move the starting time of a session, we do not offer refunds for Photo Ops or Autographs. If one of those scenarios has occurred, please submit a customer service request through our Support Form.

I never received my Photo Op confirmation email!
It may be something as simple as a misspelled email address that causes you not to receive a confirmation per email. You can send the following information to support@epicphotoops.com:

Please allow up to 48 hours (not counting weekends) for an answer. Should the convention have already started, just go to the Epic Photo Ops Help Desk, located in the photo op area with a piece of government issued photo id and they can help you there as well.

What if I lose or forget my Photo Op ticket?
If you lose your ticket and/or don't bring your online purchase ticket, visit the Epic Photo Ops Help Desk in the photo op area at the convention to have a new ticket printed. Please bring a piece of photo ID.

Can I use my Photo Op ticket on a different day or at a different time?
Photo ops are sold per session to ensure that we always know exactly how many people are coming per photo op. Consequently, you may only use your photo op for the session that it was purchased. If you purchased a photo op session and decide to come at a different time or day, you will be denied entry for your photo op. You can however go to our help desk in the photo op area and exchange it for a different day as long as that session is not sold out.

Where can I get an Autograph from my favorite Celebrity?
Select Celebrities' Autographs are available for pre-sale online. The rest of the Celebrity Guest Autographs can be purchased at their table in Celebrity Row during the convention (cash only).

I bought an Autograph online, how do I redeem it at the event?
If you pre-purchased an Autograph online, you will receive an email confirmation from GrowTix. Simply go into your GrowTix order and under Order Options, select Print. Bring the printed QR code to the Autograph Redemption booth in Celebrity Row to redeem it for an official Autograph ticket. Once you have your official Autograph ticket, you may go to that Celebrity guest's table in Celebrity Row to meet them and get the autograph. You may redeem your Autograph QR code at any time during the convention prior to the Autograph signing session. We highly recommend planning your time accordingly and doing this step in advance.

I have a VIP Pass, can my friend come with me in the Autograph line if she does not?
Yes! A friend can stand with you in the VIP line at celebrity tables if they are also getting an Autograph with you.

Can I bring my own items to be signed?
Yes! But you will only receive one signature per autograph purchased. So if you have more than one item you'd like signed, you'll have to purchase more than one autograph.

Can I ask for an Autograph while I'm getting my Photo Op?
No. Autographs are strictly prohibited in the Celebrity Photo Op area but can be purchased in the Celebrity Row area.

How do I request a refund for an Autograph?
Unless a guest has cancelled or we've had to move the starting time of a session, we do not offer refunds for Photo Ops or Autographs. If one of those scenarios has occurred, please submit a customer service request through our Support Form.

Can I send you an item to get signed by a guest at your show? I won't be there that weekend.
Yes. We have partnered with Official Pix. Details will be on our website in the coming months.

panels, special events, attractions

What Panels will be held?
SVCC offers hundreds of hours of unique Panel Programming at each event. Celebrity Spotlight Panels are where you can ask your favorite star a question, hear entertaining behind-the-scenes stories, and make once-in-a-lifetime memories. Panel Programming also covers hundreds of geeky topics. The last panel ends at 9:00pm each event night. Panels run even after the vendor floor has closed.

What's the best way to see the convention schedule?
The official SVCC Mobile App will give you all the information you need, including the convention schedule; a full list of Panels, special guests and exhibits; a map of the show floor; and up-to-the-minute news and information about the convention. The app will be available to download on Android and iOS operating systems closer to the event. If you already have the app installed from previous events, you will not have to install a new one – it will be updated closer to the event.

What if I don't have a smartphone? How can I see a schedule of all that is happening?
The SVCC app is still the best way to see the most up to date schedule. However, you can also utilize the Schedule Page on our website for information about the event. Please check back often as these are updated frequently. The Panel schedule will also be posted around the San Jose Convention Center.

How early can I start lining up for a panel?
You can line up for the first panel of the day an hour beforehand. All other panels will not have a wait line unless the panel room is currently full.

Will the panel rooms and ballrooms be cleared out between Panels?
Yes, the panel rooms and ballrooms will be cleared out between Panels, with the exception of VIP ticket holders.

How do the Panels work?
Each panel room will have two separate lines: one line for VIP members and one for General Admission pass holders. The line for VIPs will be let into the room first, followed by GA pass holders. Press Pass holders will need to join the general admission line. VIP ticket holders are granted priority entry, but not priority seating. Seating is first come, first served.

Will there be overflow rooms for the Panels?
No. Please plan to get in line early for your favorite Panels.

What kind of question should I ask during a panel?
We encourage attendees to ask thoughtful questions during Panels. Asking for personal requests like hugs, handshakes, selfies, etc. or sharing personal stories is not allowed. Please keep questions short, to-the-point, and significant. For instance, you could ask what an actor's favorite role was or who they have enjoyed working with most. Please note that questions will be screened and posted rules must be followed.

Will there be a Cosplay Contest?
Absolutely! Stay tuned to our Social Media and Newsletter for more details about the Official SVCC 2017 Cosplay Contest.

Where can I find rules and information about costumes and cosplay?
For rules for Cosplay and Weapons policies, please read our Cosplay Policy/Rules.

attending the event

Is there are a map of the Convention Center?
Maps of the San Jose Convention Center, Vendor Hall layout and Panel Rooms are available on the official SVCC mobile app and printed maps will also be available at the convention.

Can I bring my own camera?
Yes! We highly encourage you to do so, as there will be lots to photograph! However, please be respectful and do not take photographs of any attendee, cosplayer or celebrity guest without their permission.

Can outside books and posters be brought in?
Yes.

Are backpacks, purses or shoulder bags allowed?
Yes. Keep in mind they are subject to search.

Will there be lockers or a coat check to store my stuff while at the convention?
No. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Will there be Internet access at the convention?
The internet connection will be very weak due to the sheer number of people in attendance. Do not plan to rely on your smart phone's internet connection while you are at the event. The SVCC Mobile App does not need internet in order to send you push notifications about schedule changes.

Will there be charging stations for my phone/tablet?
Generally, no. However, there will be wall outlets throughout the convention center you can use.

Is outside food allowed inside the San Jose Convention Center?
No. Exceptions will be made for people with food sensitivities or medical conditions. Small snacks and baby food are okay.

Is there a designated smoking area at the San Jose Convention Center?
Indoor smoking of any kind is prohibited at SVCC events. Per the San Jose Convention Center's smoking policy: "California law prohibits smoking in any public space in the facility. This includes Vendor Hall, exhibit halls, rest rooms, lobbies, corridors and meeting rooms. Use of e-cigarettes is also prohibited. Smokers must be at least 25 feet away from any entryway to be in compliance with the California Clean Air Act."

Is there a Lost and Found?
During the convention, the Lost and Found will be located at the SVCC Information booths. After the convention is over, SVCC will have the lost items. Please email us at our support form with a complete description of the item, your contact information, and put "lost item – _______" as your subject line.

How safe is it to attend?
SVCC has a NO HARASSMENT Policy and will not tolerate harassment of any kind. Any harassment should be reported to SVCC Staff or Security.

Where can I sign up to become a Vendor or Artist at SVCC 2017?

What's the difference between a Vendor Booth and a Vendor Table?
Vendor Booths are 10' x 10' or larger and are for a person or company who sells a specific or variety of pop-culture products or services for the consumer (ex: clothing, art work, posters, novelty items, action figures, costumes, video games, etc.). Vendor Tables are smaller in size (4' x 6') and are intended for smaller businesses who sell manufactured goods (ex: t-shirts, souvenirs, plushies, wholesale items, independent distributors).

What's the difference between an Artist Alley Table and a Crafter Vendor Table?
Artist Alley Tables are for artists who sell 2-D artwork. This includes sketches, prints, graphics, illustrations, original comic books and original books, etc. Crafter Vendor Tables are for selling original items that are created by you. These items cannot be ordered anywhere else but through you (ex: sculptures, handcrafted jewelry, sewn or crocheted items, etc.). Items must be approved in order to get Crafter price.

How do I reserve a Vendor Booth, Vendor Table, Artist Alley Table or Crafter Vendor Table for an upcoming event?
To reserve Vendor Booths, Vendor Tables, Artist Alley Tables, and Crafter Vendor Tables for SVCC 2017, you must fill out an application and someone on our sponsorship team will reach out to you. You can fill out the application here.

I'm a Food Vendor. How can I be part of an upcoming event?
Please fill out the exhibitor form and let us know what you are interested in vending and we will seek approval from the convention center.

I am a Vendor; can I go to Panels?
Yes. With an Exhibitor Pass, you can access to everything General Attendees have (including Panels, Photo Ops, Autographs, Special Events and Ultimate Experiences).

I have a special question about being a Vendor. Who do I contact?

I want to volunteer!
Volunteer Registration for SVCC 2017 will open on January 1st, 2017.

If I volunteered for the last event, am I already signed up to volunteer again?
No. You will need to re-apply and go through the registration page again to be a Volunteer for SVCC 2017. Registration will open on January 1st, 2017.

What is the age limit to volunteer?
You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer.

I want to be your photographer/videographer!
If you are with the Press, you can request a press pass. If you want to apply to be a volunteer photographer or videographer for our Media Team, please submit your online portfolio through our support form.

What airport should I fly into?
The closet airport is the Mineta San Jose International Airport, which is 4.3 miles from the convention center. You can also fly into San Francisco International Airport or Oakland Airport, which are approximately an hour drive.

Do I need to rent a car?
If you are a serious SVCC fan, you won't want to leave the show. There are many restaurants nearby as well. Public transportation is available from the San Jose airport and the trip takes about 10 minutes. We also recommend using a taxi service or Uber.

Are there discounts with the local hotels?
If you book your room at the Hyatt Hotel San Jose, The San Jose Marriott, or the Hilton San Jose, you can get discounted rates with your ticket purchase until February 1st, or until there are no longer rooms available. After that date, hotel rooms will return to the full price, and discounts will no longer be available, so book your room(s) early! Rates and reservations can be found here.

Deaf and Disabled Services

Silicon Valley Comic Con is dedicated to serving all of its attendees. The Deaf and Disabled Services Department was established to offer a hand to visitors with special needs, including:

  • A rest area for the disabled, the elderly, expectant mothers, and parents with small infants
  • A nursing area for mothers with infants
  • Registration service for attendees with mobility issues
  • Wheelchairs for loan in two-to three-hour increments on a first-come, first-served basis; all you need is an ID and a cash deposit.
  • American Sign Language interpreters for the deaf at large panels and the Costume Contest.
  • Limited number of volunteer interpreters available for individual assistance
  • Special limited seating for large programming events and the Costume Contest
If you are an attendee with disabilities, SVCC wants to make your experience as fun and as entertaining as possible, but there are a few limitations on what can be provided. For example:
  • Programming rooms fill up quickly, and all seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, so special seating may not be available if you wait until the last minute to get to the room. Please read your Events Guide and plan your day accordingly, keeping in mind the popularity of most events.
  • Special autograph sessions are always limited, so it is a good idea to make arrangements to have someone within your group save a spot for you in line. Keep in mind that Deaf and Disabled Services cannot guarantee any seating, autographs, or giveaways.

anti-harassment policy

Silicon Valley Comic Con has a zero tolerance policy for harassment of any kind, including but not limited to:

  • Unwelcome physical contact
  • Verbal harassment or abuse
  • Intimidation
  • Physical assault
  • Verbal or physical disruption of sanctioned and scheduled SVCC events
  • Stalking
Attendees found breaking our anti-harassment policy face expulsion from the show and/or arrest based on the severity of the behavior.

Weapon Policy

No functional weapons are allowed at the Silicon Valley Comic Con
Simulated or costume weapons are allowed as a part of your costume, subject to prior approval by security and compliance with the following:

  • All costume weapons must be inspected at the Security Desk (location subject to change).
  • All costume weapons must conform to state and federal law.
  • Projectile costume weapons must be rendered inoperable.
  • Nerf guns are allowed, but ammunition of any kind (foam or otherwise) is prohibited.
  • Airsoft guns must be rendered completely inoperable beforehand, that is the gun shall not have any batteries installed, nor gas/propellant in the chamber and the chamber must be filled with wax or similar material. All airsoft guns must have a clearly visible orange tip on the barrel. All airsoft guns will be marked by security at weapons check and have their triggers zip-tied to ensure that the gun is incapable of firing.
  • Functional (real) arrows must have their tips removed and be bundled and zip tied to a quiver.
  • No wooden or aluminum/metal bats are permitted.
  • Items such as bullwhips, ropes and lassos are allowed, but must remain rolled and secured at all times.
  • Incendiary or flammable weapons are prohibited, including any items that are capable of igniting sparks or flames, burning, exploding or combusting.
  • Do not display your weapons or props in a threatening or menacing manner. (For instance, it's ok to pose for a picture, but cosplayers should not brandish weapons while walking the event floor.)
  • Keep prop weapons in convention areas. If you leave the premises or go out into public for any reason, please put away any and all prop weaponry immediately.
  • Any real weapons purchased at the convention that would normally be prohibited by the weapons policy, such as pocket knives, swords, etc., must remain in their original packaging and/or taken out to the car as soon as possible.
  • Costume swords must be tied to your costume in such a way that they can't be drawn.
  • After each person's costume weapon has been checked, it will be tagged by security to designate that your weapons have been checked.
  • Security will escort you to the Security Desk for inspection if your costume weapon is not tagged.
  • If you do not want to have your costume weapons inspected or tagged, or if you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume weapons to the convention.

Convention Dress Code

No costume is not a costume!

The Silicon Valley Comic Con is a family friendly event, and costuming worn should reflect that basic premise. The minimal dress standards are full-coverage bikini top, and full-cheek coverage swimsuit bottoms. In all cases local and state decency laws will be applied.

  • Male attendees are strongly encouraged to wear dance belts under any thin-fabric pants (bodysuits, tights, etc.).
  • Precautions should be taken against costume malfunctions (e.g. double-sided tape, pasties, etc.).
  • Footwear must be worn at all times; stocking feet without shoes are not sufficient.
  • Convention staff reserves the right to insist on modifications of costumes.
Photography

Photography is allowed in most areas of Silicon Valley Comic Con. Please be respectful when taking pictures and ask for the permission from your subject. Please honor all requests from those who say no to photos.

Photographic and Media Consent

All attendees, exhibitors, volunteers, guests, and staff of the convention hereby expressly consent to being photographed and video recorded at the convention and acknowledge and consent to their personal images being used for commercial and promotional purposes by the promoters. Attending the convention is a waiver of any objections to being photographed and video recorded at the convention for commercial and promotional purposes by the promoters.

Pet Policy

Only service dogs will be allowed at San Jose Convention Center. According to the California State law regarding service dogs: "Service animal" includes any dog that is trained, or is in training, to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability; performs work or tasks, or is in training to perform work or tasks, that are directly related to the individual's disability.
