Aerospace Engineer / Ames’ Lead: Orion Aerothermodynamics, NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley

McDaniel leads a team of engineers and researchers at NASA to predict the aerodynamic heating of Orion’s Launch Abort System. Much of the analysis is performed through numerical simulation using supercomputers. The methods employed by Ryan and his team are similar to those used for all missions that involve high speed atmospheric transit, including missions to the surface of Mars.

Ryan will join a panel about NASA in Silicon Valley's Role in the Journey to Mars discussing human factors simulations, entry systems, astrobiology, advanced computing and more.
