Planetary Scientist, Astrophysicist at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley

Guest Bio

Orkan Umurhan explores one of the fundamental origins question: how did solar system form planets out of the Chaos? He is a New Horizons scientist and directly participated in the close encounter flyby of the Pluto-Charon system. He is also an author of a book on fluid dynamics and turbulence.

Orkan Umurhan will discuss current scientific narratives regarding the origins of the solar system and place these ideas in the larger context of the thousands of exoplanetary systems the human race has discovered over the last 20 years.

Orkan will join NASA’s panel about the Solar System & Beyond: Cassini, Mars, Pluto, exoplanets, ocean worlds and astrobiology.
