NASA Planetary Scientist, NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley

Guest Bio

Chris' research focuses on life in extreme environments and the search for life on other worlds in our Solar System. He is also actively involved in planning for future Mars missions including human exploration. How can humans live and work on Mars, what are the environmental challenges, what is the science they would do. Long term plans for Mars and terraforming. He will focus on what we learned from Viking, Phoenix and Curiosity and how to search for life on Mars on future missions.

Chris will join join two NASA Mars panels:

  • NASA in Silicon Valley's Role in the Journey to Mars discussing human factors simulations, entry systems, astrobiology, advanced computing and more.
  • NASA’s research for Inhabiting Mars, including tracing evidence of liquid water on Mars, identifying mineral energy sources, detecting atomic oxygen in the Martian atmosphere and more.
