Bob Johnson, Original Cast Member & Resident Music Teacher On Sesame Street
Bob grew up on a farm in Illinois, attended a one-room schoolhouse in a horse and buggy with his brother, and began singing publicly when he was five years old at the Roxie Theater, accompanied by his mother who was a pianist.
Bob, received his Bachelor's in Music from the University of Michigan, and a Master's in Music from the Manhattan School of Music, and was an original cast member and the resident music teacher on Sesame Street.
An accomplished singer, he has performed, Family Pop, Holiday and Classical Young Peoples concerts, and has appeared with more than 100 symphony orchestras in the U.S. and Canada for over 40 years.
His recording company called, "Bob's Kids Music", recently released his eighth CD called "Bob's Favorite Sing Along Songs"...It received Glowing Reviews from Family Choice Awards, Creative Child Magazine CD of the Year, School Library Journal, Midwest Book Review, & Family Man Online. It won the Parent's Choice "Classic Award"…the only one given that year.
McGrath has authored eight books including best selling "Uh Oh! Gotta Go"! (On potty training) and "Oops! Excuse Me Please"! (On manners).
Prior to Sesame Street, McGrath was the featured male soloist in NBC's "Sing Along With Mitch". Bob became a major star in Japan, known as "Bobu Magulas" by his teenage fan club during nine tours in three years. He was featured on "The Tonight Show", "What's My Line" and "To Tell The Truth" singing Danny Boy in Japanese! Bob recorded nine LP's and fifteen singles in both English and Japanese for Nippon Columbia and Sony CBS.
